Legal Question in Veterans Law in Washington

ptsd

I filed a claim for ptsd in october 2008. I submitted a stressor letter, my dd214 and all my medical records. about a week later I recieved a packet from the va stating they had recieved my claim. on one page there were two options for me one: I have submitted all my evidence and want my claim processed as soon as possible. two: I have further evidence to submit. prior to filing the claim I have been recieving treatment at the va for phyc, and subtance abuse. im still recieving treatment. since I chose to have them process my claim as soon as possibe will they still see the evidence of me attending treatment at the va? or do I have to submit additional evidence of treatment that I am still getting?

Re: PTSD

The short answer is that the more evidence that you submit the better are your chances of receiving compensation. I would highly recommend that you seek representation by one of the service organizations or by an attorney. The service organizations will not charge you for the representation. This includes PVA and DAV and other such organizations.

If you try to do this on your own, you may miss things that will either delay or perhaps deny you the benefits that you are seeking.

Good luck!

Re: ptsd

It's their job to look at your VA medical. And they should set you up for a "C&P" exam to get a VA doc's opinion as to whether your PTSD is actually diagnosed as such and is service connected. (Unless those are already established.) They shouldn't make a decision w/o all the evidence, and since you just filed, it will still take a while for them to get all your medical and confirm your stressors, if needed. Feel free to email me with any further questions.
