Legal Question in Bankruptcy in West Virginia
Can I marry my fiancee before he files bankruptcy, and it not affect my assets?
My fiancee and I are planning on being married in a few short weeks, and due to his unforseen financial problems, he is filing bankruptcy. My question is this...if we marry before he files will it affect my assets? I am a widow with my own assets and we have no debts together. Do I need to wait til after he files to marry, as not to endanger my assets. Your quick response to this would be GREATLY appreciated since we will be getting married soooooon!

As long as you have not made yourself responsible for any of his debts, his bankruptcy will have no effect upon you.
