Contesting Paternity
I'm researching for a friend. He signed a birth certificate for a child that he believed was his in the early 90's. Since that time, it has become evident that the child is not his (the mother admits this and the child has even met his biological father). The problem is that my friend has been ordered to pay child support for all of these years. He was incarcerated for a period of time and now that he is out, he is being forced to pick up child support payments again. He has talked to the mother of the child who agrees that the situation needs to be rectified and has even agreed to pay him back for any payments that she collects until this is taken care of. The problem is that he's not sure what steps need to be taken to rectify the situation. Does he need a lawyer? Is he able to just petition the court perhaps for a dna test? He's asked my opinion and I have not idea what advice to provide.

Contact the attorney/lawyer. Have DNA test and thereafter move to court to rectify the situation
