Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in West Virginia

roommate dispute

If I paid my portion of the rent on our apartment the day the rent was due, and my roommate moved out and did not pay (without notice to myself or the landlord) and I had to move because the landlord said he couldnt give me time to find another roommate or come up with the rest of the money can I sue my former roommate for the half of rent I lost and the share of deposit that I have lost? We are both on disabilty and the lease was for 1 yr, and the roommate didnt fulfill but 2 mths. of that agreement and I wasnt able to either because I have only the same source of income.
