Legal Question in Criminal Law in Wisconsin
my son was charge with first degree sexual assaulthe is 16 and the girl 12 i convicted can he get probation for some thing like this i live in wisconsin

Sexual contact with a 12 year old is a gravely serious crime even though your son was only 16. He is facing potential waiver into adult court as well as the potential for decades in the adult prison system, but he also has the potential for avoiding waiver and remaining in juvenile court with far less serious consequences. He is therefore in dire need of an experienced criminal lawyer immediately, since the waiver issue becomes critical from the very first hearing in the case--critical rights can be waived if not protected right away. Technically, probation is possible for such a crime, even in adult court. However, the vast majority of defendants in such cases would be looking at extensive prison time. My comments here are not legal advice, nor do they create an attorney client relationship between us.
