Drunk Driving Traveling Abroad After Being Charged
Court orders in a first offense drunken driving case normally will not include travel restrictions, other than not driving unless you become properly licensed. You or your attorney must ask your Judge for permission to schedule your court appearances around your trip dates. As long as you are complying with the conditions of your bond, i.e., not driving, showing up for your breath tests or other court ordered monitoring, and have done your drug and alcohol assessment, the Judge will probably permit you to travel. An attorney may be able to arrange this more easily than you could on your own, depending upon which county you are charged in. This could prove to be a difficult process in a large county such as Milwaukee.
