Legal Question in Family Law in Wisconsin

Failure to pay child support

My brother-in law is in jail in Wisconsin for failure to pay child support. They said 10 counts, I know he doesn't have ten kids so what does this mean? The bail in cash is $500.00 per count totaling $5000.00 which must be paid in cash. The secretary I spoke with said shes never heard on bail on each count and that it has to be payed in cash. Is this odd? Thanks so much for any help you can provide.

Re: Failure to pay child support

I don't know about the 10 counts, but it probably has to do with various orders that he has ignored. The bond typically is in the amount of past due support. $5,000 may seem like a lot but it is not in this day. It is very possible that the mother is on public assistance and the money due is for amounts paid in such assistance. Bill Stern 248-353-9400
