Legal Question in Medical Leave in Wisconsin

Medical Excuse

I've just been told I have Chrons. My Dr. wrote a excuse for my employer that I have a prolong illness and that I might need to leave work one hour early at time. My boss told me that he doesn't have to honor that. He is being real hard on me. I have not been using the excuse and I am doing the best I can do. My work is not slacking and I'm still helping other people with their jobs and when I don't, My boss tell me I am not a team player. I don't know what to do. I am also being treated for depression and this isn't helping me. Within the last 7yrs. I've been told I have a lung disorder, chrons, and the depression. What should I do?

Re: Medical Excuse

Hello,

Under Wisconsin law an employer has to make a reasonable accomodation for someone with a disabling illness. Failure to accomodate violates the law and could result in damages for you. Unfortunately, I cannot counsel you on this via email as I would likely miss something or you misunderstand your options. For a case like this, you may not have to be close to my geographical area. Feel free to call me for a free consultation. It sounds like you have an injustice here that you should not have to put up with. Mark J. Mahoney 920-984-4529
