Legal Question in Employment Law in Wisconsin

age/sex driscrimination

My mom was recently demoted from a full-time (with benefits) managerial employee, days, to a part-time, no benefits, employee, all hours. She was demoted as one of a group of four women, chosen from 12 other middle managers. All of the four employees who were demoted were older than 50, with 15-20 years in the company (a large retail chain). She is an excellent employee, hardly any sick days, with excellent performance evaluations over the years. The other three women have similar performance records. The managers who got to keep their jobs are younger, with less experience (and years of service),

and are mostly men. Do they have any basis for legal action?

Re: age/sex driscrimination

Hello, thanks for your email. I apologize for the delay in response. It sounds like she may have a good case; but I have only your side of the story, and only part of it -- not theirs.

More facts would have to be gathered. If she has not yet obtained an attorney, I certainly would offer her a free telephone consultation to explore this further. If I had to refer the case to someone in your local area, I could also help with that as well.
