Legal Question in Employment Law in Wisconsin

new employees placed higher on salary scale

I have been a department head for eight years. I started at the bottom of the salary range, which was policy. Last year, three other new dept heads in the same salary classification as me were hired, but they were all placed near the middle of the salary range. These new employees are now making the same or more money than I do after working for eight years. I am female, they are all male. Do I have a claim?

Re: new employees placed higher on salary scale

Certainly looks like you might have a claim. Was the policy officially changed as to where individuals start. Also what was their prior experience. The fact that some of the individuals are making more than you is important. Also important is how equal your job is to theirs. More information is needed to properly evaluate your situation.
