Real Estate Boundary Disputes

Any time that a boundary dispute cannot be resolved peacefully, the only legal option other than ignoring it is to sue. The doctrine of adverse possession may provide you with legal defenses to the new alleged "owner's" claims. If there is any ambiguity as to ownership, most courts will quickly issue a temporary restraining order to preserve the status quo pending a final decision by the court on where the boundaries should be. You need to consult with a lawyer soon because many time limits apply in these situations, meaning that you could lose you rights if you do not assert them quickly.
