Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Wisconsin
Neighbors 'hinding' sale of home by slander
We recently found out through our realtor that when perspecitive
buyers are looking at the outside of the property, our neighbors have
been slandering us and our property by saying that the garage we
added is illegal. We did everything legal in building the garage,
including obtaining a permit and having a building inspector come out
and personally okay the project. Our neighbors, the same ones who
are slandering us, agreed to a variance for the project around seven
years ago. Before we moved, the neighbors approached us with an
offer to buy some of our property but we declined. When we
declined, they told us that they would do whatever it took to make
sure the property did not sell and have received two letters from
them stating that there would be consequences if we continued to
decline.
We'd rather not, but what legal action can we take against these
neighbors for 'possibly' hindering the sale of our home and
threatening us? How we legally stop them from behaving this way?
We do not know for sure if this is why our home has not sold, even
though the perspective buyers have implied so. It has only been on
the market for two months. Thank you!

Re: Neighbors 'hinding' sale of home by slander
Hello,
Talk to two lawyers on the phone to get two opinions on cost and options. Have one of them write a letter to the neighbor. Best wishes,
