Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Wyoming

Will splitting property

My father died last month. In his will, he left all of his property to us 6 girls (3 biological) 3 Step. His will states that he wants the propert sold and monies plit 6 ways. 3 of the children want to give it to one. The other 3 want the will followed exactly. This will is legal. My question is; if half the girls don't want the will followed, do they have the right to give everything away to one? I would think that a legal document/Will is just that. Legal. Thank you for any information you can provide!

Re: Will splitting property

First and foremost, I am sorry for your recent loss.

In order to get a fully accurate answer to your question, a lawyer would have to review the will in question. Generally speaking, property from a decedent is distributed according to the terms of a will. A will may contain provisions that allow a beneficiary to select someone else to receive their share, though usually not.

If a beneficiary wants to transfer what they receive under a will after they receive it, they may. However, this may have undesirable tax consequences, so an accountant or an attorney should be consulted with before taking action.

Hope this is of assistance.

My condolences,
