Divorce Complaint and Trial
Can you tell me where I can get forms or templates to draft a motion to amend the complaint to include my legal name and to file a continuance or whatever I need to file to get to trial date rescheduled. I need a lawyer but cannot afford one right now. I'm working with a women's shelter who may be able to help me get an attorney at a reduced rate or someone who will let me make payments. I'm homeless but have a job and am having a hard time finding a way to get to the trial also. Thanks for any help you may be able to give.

There are no forms. See if the YWCA can help you. They usually have an advocate working for them. If not, then you just need to write your own motion and in doing so, style it as the complaint with the name of the court, the name of the parties and the case number. There is no magic words, just explain that you need a continuance, talk with the lawyer on the other side and get an agreement as to a continuance, and file it with the court.
