How to I get car back from ex, if car registered to me and loan is in my name

If you have a key and know where it is, go get it. If not, demand it back and if ex refuses, report it stolen.

I would be careful about exercising so called "self help" to take back the car and you should not do so if it will provoke a confrontation of any kind. If there is any chance of that happening you are better off just reporting it stolen to the police.
