Legal Question in Juvenile Dependency in California

emancipatio and child support laws

A seventeen year old is requesting emancipation from her mother who is abusive. Her father (who has no custody and is abusive) is now paying her mother 937 dollars a month. Is there any way a minor, wishing to be emancipated, can receive child support from the parent without custody?

Probably not. One of the requirements of emancipation is the ability to be self-supporting.
