Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Can I be fired because of who I date?

I work as a bartender at a straight bar owned by a Lesbian. There is no written or unwritten policy about dating customers yet I was recently forced to quit or be fired because I started dating a lesbian customer. The owner has encouraged me to date male customers but is highly upset about me dating a lesbian customer even though the owner herself is lesbian. She even went so far as to 86 the customer for dating me. Can she really fire me ove something like this? What rights do I have?

Re: Can I be fired because of who I date?

An employer cannot fire an employee because of their sexual orientation, nor can they impose conditions of employment based on who you date. This is an improper intrusion on your right to privacy.
