Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Wronfull Termination

I was in an auto accident and was on a medical leave of absence for three months, my doctor released me to return to work with no heavy lifting, which my job position didn't intail any heavy lifting. I was fired because of my injury, I received a letter from my employer on my door step notifiying me that I had been terminated. I didn't even get the chance to return to work. Is this legal? or discrimination?
