Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Colorado

How can I best protect myself?

I am a male interested in setting up a tutoring business where I tutor in students' homes. I understand there is some risk in doing this in that a female student could falsely accuse me of unwanted advances and sue. If I set up a sole proprietorship and add business insurance would that be sufficient or is it best to incorporate? I would like to spend as little as possible at start up, but still adequately protect myself. Thanks for your time.

You can always incorporate later, but if you have assets, then you should incorporate now. The business insurance will protect you to a point, but after that, they can come after your personal assets. If you incorporate and get insurance, it will be very tough to pierce the corporate shield and come after your personal assets.
