Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Connecticut

I received a summons for small claims court in Connecticut where I currently live, but I am moving to North Carolina in two weeks. How should I answer the summons? Obviously I will not be able to travel back simply for a trial date. Can this be moved to North Carolina?

Unfortunately, the case cannot be moved to North Carolina. If you don't appear anf file an answer, the Plaintiff will move for a default and eventually a judgment on that basis. If you are living in North Carolina, a judgment against you may be very difficult for the creditor to satisfy. Depending on the nature of the debt, size of debt, and your assets the case may or may not be worth defending. I would be happy to further discuss the matter.

You should file an Answer and then come back to CT for the trial if you believe you have a defense.
