Legal Question in Family Law in Connecticut

My husband wants to adopt my two children. They have different fathers which I haven't not spoke to in over 2 years. Neither are listed on the birth certificate. Do we need the fathers to give up their rights? or can we go to court and have him adopt them and change their names?

If the father consents, it is easy and non-problematic. If he is the father and has legal guardianship, he has to be removed as guardian, which requires a showing of neglect, abuse, or abandonment. Its a fairly complex process that can be filed in the Probate Court of Superior Court - Juvenile matters. Please contact me if you are interested in further discussing the matter.
