Legal Question in Consumer Law in District of Columbia

I cosigned a car loan for my niece several years ago, the original loan was modified by the bank and my niece withtout my knowledge. This modification extended the term of the load repayment. What are my rights and/or liabilities since they admended the original agreement without my signature?

I live in washington dc, my niece in Maryland.
