Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

20 year old debt

Twenty years ago I had a credit debt of approx. $3500 in the state of Connecticut. I received a collection notice stating that I have to pay this bill for a settlement of the account for $1500. I called the credit card company and they do not have any notice of this. I didn't have the money, now I have to go to court. I thought this card was considered ''dead'' since the debt is over twenty years old. If the credit card company didn't send the notice, who is sending me to court.

You would have to see the Complaint to see who is suing you. If the debt is 20 years old then it is probably beyond the statute of limitations and you should probably file to dismiss on those grounds or get an attorney.
