Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

debt

an associate of mine took out several credit cards and a car. my credit was horrible and i was not able to do so. none of the debt is in my name. now we have had a falling out and the associate is claiming he is going to get a lawyer and sue me. am i legally responsible for this debt even though he signed for it and is the personal guarantor on all of it and not me?
