Legal Question in Immigration Law in Florida

immigration, green card, divorce

my husband and I got married on April 2006, I was an internation student before that, and had been with each other for a while before we got married. he was also a US citizen. we didn't file until few 7 months later, because the purpose of our marriage wasn't a green card. I laready got my 2 year green card which was in JULY 2007.Soon after that, I discovered he went back with his ex Girlfriend, which he had a boy with, and was cheating behind my back.He said it was better for him, because of his son. He abondoned me, and we have been seperated since then. He messed up my taxes because he owed money to the IRS, and had to file injured spouse claim. When I told him about the idvorce, he went to the acct that we had, and transfered all the money to his personal acct. I have no idea where he lives, he only accepts to talk to me through SMS, and doesnt want to tell me where he lives..He told me, if I try to go after the money he would call the INS and tell them our marriage was fake. He was the one cheating, not me!!!

Re: immigration, green card, divorce

We cannot advise you about family law matters in Florida. If you have questions about your family law options in Florida, you need to consult with a licensed family law attorney in Florida. Regarding your immigration issues, it is important that you file to remove the conditions on your two-year green card within the 90-day period before your card expires. If your card was issued in July 2007, you must file to remove the conditions between April - July 2009. You should talk to a competent immigration attorney to discuss changing your status to the 10-year green card. Feel free to call me if you wish to schedule an initial consultation. We wish you the best.
