Legal Question in Family Law in Iowa

I recently sent a request of modification to my child support, due to an unfortunate incarceration of 8 months this last year. They gathered all the information, including my income from the prison which as a mere $20/month. They seemed to delay the process as long as possible and now that I am out of prison, they called and asked of my work plans, etc.. I informed them that I would be returning after the first of the year at some point but am still not making any income. As their time to process the modification has expired (as I understand they have 90 days after they gather information) they have informed me that my income did not change from the original. They failed to show any of my financial information gathered, and appear to be using my past employer and income before the incarceration.

My biggest question is what kind of rights do I have, and with limited funds, how can I get an attorney to look into this further?

I would suggest that you contact the child support recovery unit and expolain the situation to them. Then be prepared to show up in court with proof of everything you assert. You may try contact the volunteer lawyer project with the ISBA or the Drake legal clinic.
