Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Louisiana

voters rights

Recently I began working for the DA's office in New Orleans. The mayors race is coming up and I was told that I would have to campaign for the individual that the DA supports. I do not support this individual. It was not mentioned in my job requirements that I would have to do this. Is it legal to make me campaign?

Thank you

Re: voters rights

The legal aspect of this question can be answered only by a LA lawyer. LA law is different from the rest of the US.

The political aspect of the question is simple: elected officials depend upon receiving a majority of the popular vote to stay in office, and expect those who benefit directly or indirectly to work to maintan the benefit.
