Stepdad adopting step children after death of biological father

My husband and I have custody of my three children (2 are minors). Their father died this year and they would like to be adopted by their stepdad. Since there is no biological father to ask permission from how do we begin this process? We currently live in Frederick County, Maryland. Thank you for your assistance.

Re: Stepdad adopting step children after death of biological father

You could retain an attorney to prepare the petition for each child. Since the biological father is deceased, it is likely that the Court will only need an original or certified copy of the death certificate.

If you are in need of further information, I would be happy to discuss your matter with you further.
