Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland

Warrant or not?

I found out I had a warrant for failure to appear in court (I never received the court date via mail) for a traffic violation. I have since been arrested 3 times for different non-traffic events in neighboring states and released-all cases thrown out.

The incident where I have the warrant happened over 2 years ago. Each time when I was arrested I was told I had a warrant, but each time I was released. Is there a statute of limitation on warrants? What do I do to clear my record...is this a criminal mark on my record? How do I get rid of the warrant?

Many thanks,

Re: Warrant or not?

It would appear that you've never taken care of the warrant which was originally issued by the court for your failure to appear and which consequently, apparently, is still outstanding. And, no, statutes of limitation due not apply to warrants which may persist in any given law enforcement database quite literally for years.

You need to clear up this FTA warrant with the court which issued it in order to prevent future encounters with the steel bracelets of neigboring jurisdictions.
