Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Michigan

I met a man and we got pregnant then engaged and decided to buy a house together. My father came to me informing me that I had 70,000 dollars put aside for me by him that I could use to either pay down the home I was living in which was underwater or use it towards the downpayment of a new home. I shared the info with my fianc and he said let's buy a home together. On a Friday he asked for the money for that day stating had to be in bank account for 3cycles before we got mortgage. My mom had to write check, my dad and I were at work, she didn't know to get him to sign something.a month later he encouraged me to declare bankruptcy, obviously, looking back so I couldn't be on mortgage. 15 months later he kicked my kids and I out of the house and is refusing to return my money. He says it was a gift. Is this true?
