Legal Question in Family Law in Michigan

What Papers Do I Serve the Defendant

Hello, I just filed a custody case here in Michigan and was granted an exparte order. I need to serve the defendant who is in prison and have already contacted the prison to find out where to send the papers for them to serve him for me. However, I dont know which papers to send to them to serve him with. I know to send the proof of service and also the summons and complaint but what else do I send? For example, should I also include the verified complaint for custody, UCCJA, verified statement, or anything else?

Thanks,

Karen

Serve all the papers that you filed with the Court.

Send him all the papers. That way, he cannot claim about lack of notice. When you file your proof of service, make sure that you specifically state what papers were served. Bill Stern
