Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Michigan

rental agreement

My girlfriend wants me to move in with her, but her landlord wants me to fill out a rental agreement and do a background check on me, but we agreed that I would not be on the lease. So do I have to fill out the entire application or do I just have to informthe landlord that I will be living there. I have a felony on my record and they don't rent to felons, but as stated I won't be the one renting my girlfriend will. This question is from Michigan

Re: rental agreement

If you are living in the property, you are a tenant whether or not you have a lease. Therefore, even if you are not on the lease, the landlord can do a background check to allow you to stay.

Re: rental agreement

Who agreed you wouldn't be on the lease? You and your girlfriend or you and the landlord?
