Legal Question in Legal Malpractice in Michigan

how to get help with recovering from an auto accident,my attorney let the insurance company get away with a proven case that I have torn sholder,neck and accepted a check for $4500.00 and said that I had to many prexisting conditions,and that they was closing the case. truely I don't know what happened as my attorney kept over $3800.00 of the $4500.00 and sent me a check for 649.00 and said he was closing my case. He told me that Medicaid,Medicaire will pay for all the outstanding bills.But not according to the billing system.Medicaire,Medicaid WILL not pay. So now I'm in serious need of surgery,but have NO insurance. I have nevered cashed the check as I STILL have HOPE. Please tell what I need to Due. Thanks Melinda

The attorney has no right to settle the case without your permission. Also, Medicare and Medicaid have to be addressed. The car insurance must pay them back. What I'm guessing, is that your case was a first party case for only medical bills. You may have had pre-existing conditions that made it difficult to prove causation. I'd have to look over the whole case to see if it was handled correctly. Also, it would help to know who the lawyer was.
