Legal Question in Legal Malpractice in Michigan

Do engagement or retainer fees submitted to a law office by law have to be held in a separate trust fund? What kind of punishment could a law office face if they are commingled?

They are supposed to be held in a separate account that can be drawn against as the fees are earned. However, perhaps the written retainer agreement has an alternative that allows co-mingling. William S. Stern
