Being pull over for no cause

I was out diving around the other night and I haad pass a State trooper who had Pull some one over after I got about a 1/8 mile ahead of him him left the vehicle the he can i my direction I had turn right on to a road and so did he and he continued to follow me for about 2-4 mile till i reach home once i pull in and put my car in park he pull in behind me and turn on his lights. He then appaoched me and ask me if I was just driving I said Yes so he took only my licencse and want back to the car when he can back he never gave and reason of this and asked me if i was done dirve for the night. Can the police legal do this to people

So what happened? Were you issued a ticket? And, yes, if the police think you were doing something wrong/illegal/suspicious, they can stop you and question you. So is there a problem here or what? Your message is not very clear.
