Legal Question in Traffic Law in Michigan

School Bus passing in private subdivision

I passed a school bus when it was stopped in my private subdivision. I was wondering, if the must stop for stopped school bus law was still in effect because it wasn't on public roads.

Re: School Bus passing in private subdivision

Even though you live in a "private subdivision", you do not have a special exemption from the laws of the State of Michigan. You must stop when the school bus stops with its signals. You are also not free to rob, steal, assault, defraud, ingest illegal drugs, commit arson, or fail to pay taxes in your subdivision because you live apart from the public.
