Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Michigan

ramifications of husband's death

My husband died with one asset--our house, jointly held by him and me. I intend to give his children dollars equal to his share of the value of the house. What are their legal rights for this or beyond this?

Re: ramifications of husband's death

If the house was jointly held by you and your husband as joint tenants in common with rights of survivorship, as "husband and wife" or as tenants by the entireties, then the full ownership of the house should automatically transfer to you. His children would not be entitled to any portion of his interest in the house ordinarily. If you were divorced, then the outcome would change.
