How do I counter offer the petition for divorce?

You need to draft an answer and counter-petition and serve it on opposing counsel and file it with the court administrator in the county in which it is brought. There will be a filing fee to the county that varies by county.

An Answer and CounterPetition must be served upon the opposing party and filed with the court along with a filing fee which is usually around $330. Properly formatting the relief you are requesting in your answer can be important. As a result, you would be wise to retain an attorney for your matter.
