Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

Battery Domestic Violence

My boyfriend and I had a argument 12/08. He choked me & I fought back. I left the house came back to get things & I was arrested and went to jail. I was in a slip and fall accident 12 days earlier so there was no way I could really injure him.... although, he did have scratches and his hand prints did not show up on me right away. He went to drop the charges but I guess the D.A. took over. When I go to court if i plead not guilty will I have to go back to jail? I heard no contest is saying you are guilty. It was in self defense. (I wasn't sure if I should let my injury lawyer know the situation.) Please help. Thank you.

I would recommend you get an attorney, Domestic battery is a serious misdemeanor and it could hurt your future employment. I would let my pi attorney know.

Re: Battery Domestic Violence

If you were acting in self defense this may helpful in establishing a defense to your charge. Ultimately, realize that your charge is serious enough that you should seriously consider retaining an attorney and let an attorney handle your appearance, provide you with appropriate legal advice as well as deal with the DA on your behalf.

Yes, you should make you PI attorney aware of this situation too.

You should get an attorney to represent you in the domestic battery case. It might be possible to negotiate the case.
