Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Nevada

My husband owns a home in Las Vegas which we use as a vacation home going out there at will. One of our neighbors is going thru a divorce and was living with her husband and his parents. She asked us if she could rent room in the house from him and he agreed. I am concerned that he is comfortable not reducing this relationhip to writing in terms of a lease or a housesitter agreeement. She is to send him $300.00 a month. She has already sent one payment. Is it possible that by his letting her stay there without a written agreement she can claim the house as hers and he could lose it?

No. Your husband would have to sign a deed to her in front of a notary. You may have some rights in it under Nevada law as his spouse, such as you signing off too. Depends on how your husband took title, whether he is making mortgage payments, etc.

If you need a lease, please email me at [email protected]. I would charge One Hundred Dollars.
