If you submit a fiancee visa petition, the first step is to file with USCIS. Once USCIS approves that petition, it will eventually be forwarded to the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Generally, USCIS is taking about six months to process and approve these types of petitions(depending on how many applications received) before they are sent to the consulate for an interview. Once abroad, it will depend on the consulate how long it will take to schedule an interview. Generally, the whole process takes about a year, but it could be longer. A similar situation arises for a marriage petition. First, you must submit a petition for alien relative with USCIS (if you are already married). USCIS is currently taking about 6 months to process and approve these petitions (depending on how many petitions received). Once this petition is filed, you can apply for a K3 visa to try to get your husband to the USA faster once his application is being processed, but again, once all documentation is approved by USCIS, the petition will be forwarded to the Consulate, which will schedule the interview. This process could also take from 6 months to a year, estimated time. If you have any further questions or would like to discuss your case in detail, please contact us. We also speak Spanish.
