Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

Collection Of Debt

I am receiving notices from a collection agency

for a debt I never incurred, $450.00. This debt

was charged against my credit card by the service

manager of a auto repair center I had dealt with.

My credit has been excellent for the past 30 years, and I found out that this debt has been

reported to a credit agency which in effect ruins

that. If I have to sue this company I will. I have

gotten no results trying to explain to them what

happened.

Re: Collection Of Debt

It's not quite clear to me what the underlying transaction was all about. However, you have the right to protest improper charges to your credit card, directly with the credit card company. Once that is resolved, if it still appears as a mark against your credit, you can then write to the credit reporting agencies and they will include your letter with any credit requests. Good luck!
