new jersey to get back my engagement

ring if wedding never took place ? she

decided to cancel...

You should be able to. It is a conditional gift and the condition never took place.

You also have tradition on your side. Keep in mind this would have to be a civil suit. Depending on the value of the ring, you may be able to handle it yourself. Perhaps you should pay an attorney a small fee to send her a warning letter first. That frequently gets results in these situations.

You could pursue getting your ring back (or the monetary equivalent of your ring) by filing what is known as an unjust enrichment action against your ex-fiance.
