What is the statute of limitations to file a civil complaint ?

It depends on what the lawsuit is about. Also, there are situations when the time is "tolled", meaning that it does not run.

It varies depending on the nature of the complaint. For personal injury suits, the limit is two years. For most other civil suits, the limit is six years. There are circumstances, however, that stop or reset the running of the time.
