Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

intimidation,hostil enviroment

is it considered harrassement if a person with authority can chase another employee down because they didn't have a radio to be called on or to snatch thngs out of my hands forcefully and say with a frightening look on there face don't mess with me? this person can be fine in one minute and then in a second he has this look on his face (that he is going to kill someone) and who ever the person goofed up he yells at them and makes all of us feel little also if he is busy and you just wait for him he has an attitude (we are advised to do certain things this is why we wait for him) he will have a tone with you that is not professional and makes you feel belittled I loved my job at one time and I want to love it again but i can't work with someone cause you don't know if your going to upset them there are other issues alsowith this authoritive figure I am speaking of to many to tell but other management sais it is ok cause this is just the way he is I say NO Not normal

Re: intimidation,hostil enviroment

It doesn't sound as if you have the basis of a lawsuit. The civil law won't force someone to be civil to you. Laws which protect employees from harrassment protect them only if the harassment is related to gender, race, age, or some other protected charateristic - such as ethnicity or religion. What you are describing is just a boob who is rude to everyone equally. There generally is not a cause of action in such a case, although in an extreme case, you might have a cause of action for the intentional infliction of emotional distress - but don't count on it.
