Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

Personal Liability while working

I am a flagger for a company in NJ. (a flagger is one who directs traffic around work sites.) If there is an accident caused by our ''site'' not being set up properly (such as having our ''work area ahead'' sign too far) can I PERSONALLY be held responsible? I received two summons for the above accident. The fine for ONE could be $500.00! My company said I'm pretty much on my own. Should and can they be forced to pay the fine?

Any information you can give me will be appreciated.

Re: Personal Liability while working

Your company is dead wrong. You have a master/ servant relationship i.e you are not personally responsible and you cannot be on your own
