Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Judgement never served

My checking account was frozen, I have a judgement against me from a supposed debt that was in Texas several years ago that I have no knowledge about. To make things worst I was never served or contacted in regards to this judgment or debt. Now I have a letter from the Deputy Marshall's office saying they are going to garnish my wageson top of the frozen checking account. I am currently looking for a lawyer because I know this just isnt fair. Please advise me on if I have a case since all my funds were frozen I am borrowing from a friend to hire a lawyer I cant imagine that this is the normal process of judegments or wage garnishments. Thank you for any help or lawyer referral.

Re: Judgement never served

Somewhere along the way a lawsuit began that you did not answer...there can be many possibilities why. You need to get an Order to Show Cause to vacate he judgment and stop the execution of it. The account could not have been frozen without a judgment.

Good Luck
