Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

personal loans to friends

I loaned a friend 15,000 last year around this time with the promise that the money would be paid back. So far I have only received 2,400 and I keep on getting pushed off with excuses. I have written confirmation through text messages back and forth on agreed payment plans. No payment plan has been followed. On top of this, this friend owes another friend of mine 14500 due to the same loan. There is a written agreement between these two and it has not been honored either. The reason for the loan was a lie and this money was to repay gambling debts. What legally can be done here to ensure payment of this loan to both parties?

Re: personal loans to friends

sue in Civil Court in NYC...if the defendant is in Queens, sue the, there. The Court is on Sutphin Blvd. Note..this will NOT be a small claims matter because of the amount involved and you may need an attorney.

Feel free to contact me with any questions.
