If the film was commercially released (i.e., in theaters, on television or DVD) it shouldn't be difficult to find out the film's gross but I'd need to know the film's name. If you wish, you can contact me and I'll try to get you the information.

Your next step will be based upon what the agreement you had with the people who produced the documentary. Sometimes in these agreements there is an audit clause that lays out exactly how you go about determining what money was made. The best course of action for you would to be to speak with an attorney and have them review the agreement you signed to advise you what your rights are in this situation. Please feel free to contact my firm if we can be of assistance in this matter.
