Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I am an unmarried mom. I am currently recieving court ordered child support but no visitation order was ever filed. I would like to take my son on vacation this summer but the father will not sign for the passport or write the letter of permission. Do I have other options?

You need to file a petition for sole custody of the child.

If the court does not grant your request, you can still get the dad to agree to the passport.
